<B>1847 S$1 MS63 PCGS.</B></I> The 1847 is relatively available in VF to AU, but is very scarce in Mint State, and is a prized rarity as a Gem. It is often seen heavily bagmarked, accounting for the many more pieces known in lower Uncirculated grades. This lovely piece has only a few moderate marks on the upper reverse field that separate it from MS64. The semi-prooflike fields display medium gray-rose and golden toning that is slightly deeper on the obverse. This example is well struck throughout, with complete head detail and just a little softness on the eagle's plumage and the obverse stars. Housed in a green label holder.
