1847 $2 1/2 MS62 PCGS.<p>Ex: Bass. A long underrated issue, the 1847 has an extant population of perhaps 85-95 coins from an original mintage of 29,814 pieces. The average grade among survivors is VF, and we have not offered a similarly graded PCGS coin since 1995. Prooflike in finish, the surfaces display glowing fields with a few die polish lines (as produced) on the obverse. Both sides are golden-rose in color with an otherwise bold strike that softens on the reverse over the eagle's left (facing) leg. Wispy abrasions pepper the fields, none of which are out of context with the MS62 grade level. Population: 4 in 62, 3 finer (5/02).Ex: Bass II (Bowers and Merena, 10/99), lot 395, where it realized $7,475. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
