Handwritten letter to Mr. William Clark Young and his wife, Mehetable Swift Young informing them of the death of Mehetable's younger brother, Madison Swift, in a Victoria Texas gun battle. Dated 5 August 1846 and composed by Swift's widow who gives an account of his death. Excerpt: ''...Madison...was kild...by a man by the name of Burnes they had some difficultly between them...Madison shot Burnes through the heart and Burnes shot Madison through the head...'' Accompanied by cover. Very good condition.
