1846 N-21 R6 VF35. Ten points sharper with extremely fine roughness under a glossy chocolate and olive brown patina. No verdigris or notable contact marks. A small, curved struck-through line just right of the mouth can help identify this cent. Sharply struck terminal die state, die state b, with a small but strong triangular rim cud over star 7. Tied for CC#8 for the variety but CC#2 of only 8 known with the cud break. This is the plate coin for the die state in the 2001 edition of the Grellman book on late date cents. Noyes photo #30192.
