This Extremely Rare newspaper is believed to feature the Earliest Known Reference to the modern game of Baseball which took place on Friday, October 10, 1845. Onpage two, colum five, there is a "Brooklyn" heading and under the heading reads the following..."The Base Ball match between eight Brooklyn players, and eight players of New York came off on Friday on the ground of the Union Star Cricket Club. The New Yorkers were singularly unfortunate in scoring but one run in their three innings. Brooklyn scored 22 and of course came off winners."
