<B>1845-O $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. AU50 Details.</B></I> Repunched 18. Breen-6560. Winters (2006) estimates that a mere 85 to 95 coins survive from this low-mintage issue of 41,000 pieces. Winters also notes that Breen's repunched date variety seems to represent the sole die marriage for this date and mintmark. (It was previously believed that there were two varieties of this New Orleans Mint half eagle.) This example is nicely struck throughout, with khaki-colored surfaces that show only faint evidence of wear, and a few scattered marks.
