1845 James K. Polk Inaugural Ball Invitation Terrific 1845 James K. Polk Inaugural Ball Invitation.
Terrific 1845 James K. Polk Inaugural Ball Invitation. A wonderful engraved invitation to a quasi-official ball being held on Inauguration Day in Concord, New Hampshire. In those days, when interstate travel was still a major undertaking, it was customary to hold "satellite" balls in other cities for local social and political leaders. Not surprisingly, the first name on the list of Managers is Franklin Pierce, a leading light of New Hampshire who would go on to win the presidency himself eight years later.

This invitation is particularly desirable because, in general, Polk items are particularly prized by collectors. In addition, early inaugural items are among the most collectible, and valuable, categories of political and historical paper ephemera. Condition is beautiful. 5" x 7.75".
