1845 General Andrew Jackson Silk Mourning Ribbon
1845 Silk Mourning Ribbon for General Andrew Jackson, Published by Edward P. Whaites of New York, Sullivan-Fischer AJ-M3, Choice Extremely Fine.
This well centered and sharply printed black on white silk ribbon measures 8.25” x 3” and is titled, "In Memory of Departed Worth" and includes a large printed image of Andrew Jackson seated at a reading table and a smaller vignette image of the Hermitage. Below the images the ribbon reads: "Gen. Andrew Jackson. Born Mar. 15th, 1767. Died June 8th, 1845. in his 79th year. His fair renown shall never fade away, Nor shall the Mention of his name decay, Through to the Dust his invital part we give, His Fame in Triumph o’er the Grave shall live." There is a faded publisher’s imprint of “Edwd. P. Whaites”. This scarce ribbon is nice for display.
