Original ANDREW JACKSON “Mourning” Ribbon, boldly printed in black on white Silk, measuring 6.25” x 3” of an extremely rare and impressive decorative design. The central vignette has an American Eagle with wings spread on a globe which balances on the top of a funeral monument, holding a banner in it’s beak which reads: “HONOR to JACKSON”. The text on monument reads: “Sacred to the Memory of And; Jackson, Born March 16th 1767 - Died June 8th 1845,” surrounded by banners, Six banner/flags adorned with the names of historic battles he won, and a large mortar and musket. The text below the monument reads: “General Andrew Jackson, Hero of New Orleans. Published & Sold by Baker & Elliot. 65 South Third St.” A 1.5” long horizontal tear is about halfway into lower-center margin silk yet does not touch any text, with a minor nick at its centerfold, and has minor expected tone. A very rare Andrew Jackson Silk Mourning Ribbon that has a great design and is the first of this type we have offered.
