1845-D $5 MS62 NGC. Formerly offered as lot 6982 in our recent Central States Auction, where it was described as, "The '45-D is one of the more easily obtainable Dahlonega issues for type purposes, but it is certainly a challenge to locate in strict mint condition, as is this coin. The striking details on this piece are exceptionally strong, even for the issue, with complete definition in all areas--a most uncommon trait for branch mint gold from this era. In addition to the strong strike, the fields show evidence of light die polishing which has imparted a semi-reflective sheen to each side. Unlisted on the Winter Condition Census, this piece should fall at the lower end of the five finest known pieces. The two most obvious marks for pedigree purposes are a diagonal abrasion out from Liberty's chin on the obverse, and a small abrasion just below the O in OF on the reverse. Outstanding quality."
