<B>1844-O 50C Doubled Date AU55 PCGS.</B></I> WB-103, Breen-4775. The date was originally punched much too high in the die, with a third of the logotype lost due to the device. The blundered date was only partially effaced before another date was correctly entered in the die. This spectacular variety is featured on the cover of the Wiley/Bugert reference. This untoned example has a good strike and ample bright luster in protected regions. The fields are devoid of individually mentionable abrasions.
