<B>1844-D $5 AU58 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 11-H. One of the more obtainable dates among Dahlonega half eagles, the '44-D only becomes scarce in the upper reaches of AU and rare in Mint State. As with many other '44-D half eagles, this piece has exceptionally strong details on each side and virtually none of the often-encountered weaknesses. That, coupled with the minimally abraded green-gold surfaces and semi-prooflike sheen in the fields, makes this an excellent high-grade type coin.
