<B>1844 $10 XF45 NGC.</B></I> Struck during the last year of the Hard Times, 1838-1844, the 1844 ten dollar had a low mintage of only 6,361 pieces. Apparently few high-denomination gold coins were needed in the channels of commerce during these troubled times. The 1844 is seldom seen in XF. This is a bright coin with yellow-gold surfaces. There are only the small to moderate-sized abrasions present that one would expect for a coin that has seen 15 points of circulation.
