1843-D $2 1/2 Small D MS60 NGC. Winter 4-C. The 4-C is the most commonly encountered variety, and this later die state is distinguished by a die crack from the rim through the right side of the first S in STATES which terminates in the feathers on the eagle's left (facing) wing. Another crack also is seen from the D in the denomination to the rim below. This issue is actually quite scarce in Uncirculated grades, but we have the good fortune to be able to offer two MS60 coins in this sale. The surfaces on this piece show many small abrasions over each side, a common trait on '43-D Quarter Eagles, but the only ones worthy of mention are a milling mark in the field in front of Liberty's neck and a tiny planchet flaw to the left of the first digit in the date. The surfaces are bright and show pronounced green-gold color with a slight overlay of reddish patina. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
