<B>1843-C $2 1/2 Large Date, Plain 4 AU55 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 5-D. The only dies for the Plain 4 variety. Both the date and mintmark are repunched. This clean example has ample luster, and is without serious marks. The eagle's neck and left (facing) leg is blunt, but much of the design is crisply struck, particularly the stars and dentils.
