<B>1842 S$1 MS62 PCGS.</B></I> Among No Motto Seated dollars, the 1842 is encountered far less often in Mint State than the Treasury-hoarded 1859-O and 1860-O. This piece has the finish usually seen on dollars from the 1840s, that is, semi-prooflike rather than frosted. The fields show obvious die striations that impart the bright sheen seen on this piece. Well struck in general, although there is a bit of softness noted on the top of the eagle's left wing. Moderately abraded for a coin of this grade, and the surfaces are generally brilliant.
