1842-O $2 1/2 MS62 NGC. The '42-O has an impressively low mintage of only 19,800 pieces, and it is one of the rarest issues in the series of New Orleans Mint quarter eagles. The fields are bright and prooflike, giving the coin a special appearance that is most likely missing from many of the other high grade survivors. It is also better struck than most, with no weakness apparent on Liberty's hair curls and just the slightest softness on the eagle's left (facing) leg. Lightly abraded over each side, as the grade would indicate, the only surface flaw that is significant enough to use as a pedigree identifier is a small planchet void next to star 12. Census: 2 in 62, 4 finer (12/06).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
