This is a beautiful mid-19th Century map, with choice Hand-colored outline, with three different views: The World on an Equatorial Projection / Map of the Eastern & Western Hemispheres, The World on a Polar Projection / Map of the Northern & Southern Hemispheres, and a Map of the Most Recent Antarctic Discoveries. Reads, in part:

“Until the year 1819, no land was known to exist to the southward of the 60th degree of south latitude. ... On the 19th of January, 1840, a continent, situate about 2,000 miles south of Australia, was discovered by the expedition , and explored for a distance of 1,700 miles from East to West ...”. Measures 9” x 11.5” (by sight), wooden framed to an overall size of 12.5” x 15.25” and appears bright and fresh for display.
