<B>1842-D $2 1/2 AU50 NGC.</B></I> Variety 3-F. This is the only recorded die pair for the 1842-D, in service to produce 4,643 quarter eagles. It is believed that less than 100 examples are still in existence today. This specimen has some weakness, particularly evident on the reverse, yet it retains nearly full mint luster on green-gold surfaces.
