The Bechtler gold dollars, produced starting in 1831, were the first circulating gold dollars in the United States, antedating the U.S. Mint by 18 years. This piece shows lustrous green-gold surfaces with a slight bend in the planchet, as made. There are few relevant abrasions. A small die crack joins the second E with the rim, the R, and the star, but there is no trace of the crack at the first E that Kagin mentions.
