<B>(1842-52) $5 A. Bechtler Five Dollar, 134G. 21C.--Damaged--NCS. AU Details.</B></I> K-27, Low R.5. A historic and highly collected five dollar from the Bechtler family, who filled a local need for coinage rather than have miners risk robbery by shipment to the Philadelphia Mint. This is a well-detailed piece that has bright green-gold surfaces. The fields are peppered with numerous small abrasions. The damage on the insert apparently refers to three areas of pinscratching on the obverse.
