1842<50C> Medium Date MS65 NGC. WB-104. This is not one of the distinctively recut or repunched varieties, but numerous fine die cracks are seen around the borders, a common trait on 1842 halves. While rather easily encountered in lower grades, Gems are of the highest order of rarity. Deeply and originally toned with rich golden-gray patina over each side accented by russet and sea-green around the devices. Sharply struck throughout. Wiley and Bugert estimate the rarity at High R.5 in Mint State.
