1841-O $10 AU53 PCGS. Sharply struck, with bold plumage, talons and stars. The hair curl above the ear as well as the curl below have above average definition. This bright example has ample remaining prooflike luster. The lack of obtrusive abrasions further adds to the appeal of this important coin. An historic issue, the 1841-O Eagle was the first New Orleans issue of that denomination. The earliest important rarity within the Liberty Eagle series, the mintage of 2,500 pieces is the lowest of any issue prior to 1859. The issue is a conditional as well as an absolute rarity, as none have been graded above AU55 by either major service. Thus, the present coin is about as nice an example of the issue as can be found, and is perfect for the specialist who demands the finest possible quality. Population: 4 in 53, 3 finer (10/02).
