<B>1841 50C MS64 NGC.</B></I> Dense layers of electric-blue and brownish-gray patina adorn the two sides of this conditionally scarce near-Gem. Boldly struck and abrasion-free, with a fingerprint fragment in the right obverse field that may have limited the grade. Wiley and Bugert (1993) assign a rarity ranking of High R.6 to all varieties of this early issue, in Mint State.
