1841- 1926-D $20 St. Gaudens PCGS MS 63
<Our item number 111046>1926-D $20 St. Gaudens. PCGS graded MS-63. A solid coin for the grade. Rich, sunny, fill-your-lungs kind of golden-orange mint bloom color. And very choice, both sides exhibit only a few scattered blemishes including several on the blouse, one or two on Liberty's thigh, and a small mark in the field above the outstretched arm. All are consistent with the choice MS63 grade, of course. Collectors of rare date Saint-Gaudens $20 gold seeing the photos understand this coin is nicely struck for the a Denver Mint issue, best of all entirely so. Certainly a coin that gets proper mention where completeness of design is almost a must. And the kind of quality collectors keep an eye on for upward trends in the marketplace. Pop 35; 23 finer, 16 in 64, 5 in 65, 2 in 66 (PCGS # 9184).

Historic note: In the range of dates of the 1920s, the production figure for the 1926-D was on the low side, just 481,000 pieces. As seems likely, a few were distributed, perhaps 1,000 or so; the others were stored in bank vaults. Today, the population is believed to lie in the range of 300 to 450 pieces, making it a rarity. Until a few years ago, only a handful were known, and much ink was spilled in extolling the fame of the 1926-D, which retains this illustrious cache.
Estimated Value $30,000-35,000.

Our item number 111046
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
