Lovely smooth glossy brown surfaces with grand eye-appeal. The coin is so fresh and attractive, there is no reason to perform an autopsy on its surfaces, strike characteristics, or invisible "problems" since one isn't warranted. The large date numerals were a carry-over from 1839; later in the year the mint switched to a smaller logopunch collectors now call the "small date".
