This Early American Pattern glass is a large covered footed compote which was probably made by Boston and Sandwich. It is the colonial pattern and I believe one of the very early pieces as the compote has a pontil. The lid has rough edges and a few flakes and the top below the acorn knob has a chip. The bottom edge of the complote has a couple tiny flakes. I would say this piece is in remarkable condition since it is from 147 to 167 years old. Think about that, it is amazing when you think about it. The piece is about 9 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" at the largest part of the compote. A great piece to add to your collection or if you have one a pair would be rare to have.
