1840 1C PR63 Red and Brown PCGS. N-2, High R.6 as a pr
1840<1C> PR63 Red and Brown PCGS. N-2, High R.6 as a proof. Blundered date with sharply repunched 18, a rather surprising choice of the obverse die to coin proof examples of this date. The features of the repunched date are extremely sharp. The dentils along the right side of the obverse and the right side of the reverse clearly show evidence of more than one strike. The fields are fully reflective with light brown and iridescent toning over golden surfaces that have faded slightly from original mint color. A few minor specks are evident on the obverse, and a short vertical scratch can be seen inside the wreath on the reverse. A small U-shaped lint mark is noted in the right obverse field near star 10.
