The 1839-O, in addition to its well known status as the first O-mint of the denomination, is the only Classic Head quarter eagle produced at the New Orleans facility and boasts a mintage of just 17,781 pieces. This lustrous example displays little actual wear and is actually quite attractive save for a grease stain or planchet streak that pierces the lower portion of the reverse. A bit of displaced metal is also noted beneath this defect.
