<B>1839-O $2 1/2 MS62 NGC.</B></I> High Date, Wide Fraction, McCloskey-A. A stunning Mint State example with prooflike fields and amazing luster. The design elements are boldly detailed, even at the centers. The obverse has the date high in the exergue, closer to the mintmark than the border. The reverse has a widely spaced fraction with the numerator and denominator far from the fraction bar. The High Date variety is slightly more plentiful than the Low Date, yet neither are particularly common in Mint State grades. The present sale provides an excellent opportunity to acquire several Classic Head quarter eagle varieties that are seldom encountered.
