1839 N-9 R2 Silly Head, PCGS graded MS64 BrownLustrous light steel brown and olive with frosty lighter steel brown toning in protected areas. Attractive flowline luster covers the fields on both sides and the only marks visible to the unaided eye are a couple light nicks left of the earlobe. However, under magnification and the right light you can find a fine hairline scratch along the lower edge of the jaw, another down the front edge of the neck, and a third along the lower edge of the bust over the date. MDS with the obverse die cracks well advanced but no rim cuds. The parallel diagonal die lines up to the left from star 7 are very dull but visible. The die crack passing down the cheek and neck show several small lumps where small chips of the die have flaked away. Called MS60 and tied for CC#17 in the Noyes census, his photo #36391. Our grade is MS60 net AU58 (but the eye appeal suggests a solid mint state grade).
