1839 N-8 R1 Head of 1840 PCGS graded MS63 Brown
Lustrous light bluish steel and violet with mellowed red and rose in protected areas. The surfaces are satiny and the only notable marks are traces of a fingerprint at star 8 and a small spot of darker toning close below that star. MDS with lightly flowlined fields. The early die line from the lower berry right of the E in ONE to the leaf below is gone but the narrow rim cud under the 839 has not formed. Graded MS65RB by PCGS in 1991 and MS64BN in 2015 (PCGS labels #1745.65/7422301 and 37265.64/30999281 included, and the second one shows the attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance). Graded MS63 by Noyes and tied for CC#3 in his census, photo #27127. Our grade is MS63. A very attractive example of this "Redbook" variety. Comes with a nice provenance. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label.
