<B>1839-D<$5> XF40 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 2-A. A sharp and bright lemon-gold example with no more than its share of tiny marks. The last Dahlonega date to feature an obverse mintmark, and of course, the only D-mint issue of this single-year subtype. The portrait of Liberty is sleepy-eyed and has a curved bust truncation, although the <I>Guide Book</B></I> currently fails to note these distinctions. Only 18,939 pieces were produced.<BR><I>From The Tide Collection.</B></I>
