1839-D $5 --Cleaned--ANACS. XF40 Details. Variety 2-A. The 1839 half eagles from Charlotte and Dahlonega are the only Liberty gold coins with the mintmark on the obverse. It also represents the first year of issue for the Liberty head design. This light greenish example has a small patch of bright hairlines at the date, resembling marks made by a pencil eraser, but every other aspect of the coin is entirely natural. A desirable piece despite the minor impairment.

Coin Engraver: Christian Gobrecht

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
