<B>1839-D $5 AU50 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 2-A. the mintmark is positioned between the 39 of the date on this variety. When found, the 1839-D half eagle is usually in VF or XF condition. AU pieces are rare, and Mint State examples are virtually unobtainable. This AU specimen displays bright yellow-gold surfaces with tints of light green, and traces of luster in the recesses.
