<B>1839-D $2 1/2 XF40 PCGS.</B></I> Variety 1-B, R.4. Identified by a bold branch stem located entirely to the left of the D in the denomination. Nearly 14,000 coins were minted; survivors are usually seen in VF or XF condition. This XF40 coin exhibits bright yellow-gold surfaces that show tints of light green. The obverse is slightly stronger than the reverse, which is usually not fully brought up on this issue.
