1839-D $2 1/2 --Cleaned--ANACS. AU50 Details. Variety 1-B, McCloskey-B, R.4. Coined from the stronger reverse die, which shows a full stem to the left of the D in the denomination. A lightly worn and luminous example of this important issue, the only one that combines the desirable Classic Head design and the Dahlonega mintmark. As a result, the 1839-D quarter eagle has experienced constant demand since collectors began paying attention to mintmarks. This softly struck yellow-orange representative has minor wear on the highpoints and muted luster. Light hairlines and a hint of gloss are noted on each side. Overall, a pleasing and desirable representative of this historic issue.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
