1839-C $2 1/2 VF30 PCGS. Variety 2-A. From the standpoint of sharpness, this coin appears to be at least an XF45 but it was probably net graded as a result of an old cleaning. For the assigned grade of VF30, the detail is excellent with good sharpness on both obverse and reverse. The surfaces are lightly marked and there is a mint-made defect on the cheek of Liberty, as typical seen on this variety. The color is medium green-gold and there is essentially no luster remaining. All in all, a nicer coin than described and one that deserves careful, in-person examination prior to bidding. Housed in an old green label PCGS holder.
From The Carolina Circle Collection.

Coin Engraver: William Kneass

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
