1839/6<1C> N-1, R.3--Environmental Damage--NCS. AU Details.VF20 EAC. A very late state of the dies with the obverse die crack from the rim between stars 3 and 4 through Liberty's nose and eye. After passing the eye the crack is weaker and dips in the direction of the ear. Leaving the ear the crack becomes bolder and goes into the Y of LIBERTY then goes to the rim behind liberty's head, through the top of star 11. Although we have referred to this as a single crack, it is actually a combination of three different die cracks that bisect the obverse. The surfaces under close examination show many defects that are not obvious without magnification. The reverse has a better surface although it still has some roughness. Steel, olive, and reddish-brown color on the obverse with bluish-brown patina. The overdate is obvious for this very desirable large cent.
Ex: George Ramont (3/25/1980). Envelope Included.
