1838 Liberty Seated H10C. Stars, No Drapery NGC MS65
The Philadelphia Mint in 1838 added stars to Gobrecht's "starless" motif of 1837 and continuing through November 1840, created the familiar (and short-lived) "no drapery" Type. It was produced in only three calendar years. The first year 1838 enjoys large collector interest which we suspect arises from the constant availability in nice frosty Mint condition coins like the present specimen. For the collector who wants to add a superior bit of Americana to his or her coin collection. Both sides are naturally toned, both sides enjoy basking in the comfort of full frosty originality. While this isn't the single finest-graded 1838 No Drapery half dime, it is certain to please anyone who studies it. Bids $1700 and trends $2500.
