1838 H10C Small Stars MS65 NGC. V-2. Die State Four. Actually, the die state only refers to the obverse as the reverse is distinct from that used on examples of the V-1 die marriage. (The obverse die was used for both varieties.) Liberty's portrait is extensively rusted, and many of the stars are attenuated from repeated die polishing that was probably meant to lessen, if not remove the former feature. There is also evidence of doubling on the 3 in the date with a crack from the rim through star 13 to Liberty's right (facing) arm. As stated earlier, the reverse die is new and, on the present coin, striations (as produced) are still seen in the fields. An untoned, silver-white representative for the Gem quality first-year type collector. The No Drapery, Stars Seated Half Dime was produced from 1838-1840. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. On occasion eBay live bid software cannot keep up with the pace of the auctions where 4-5 lots per minute can hammer down, so we recommend that you place a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
