1838-C $2 1/2 --Improperly Cleaned--NCS. Unc Details. Variety 1-A, R.3. One die pair was used to strike the 1838-C. It has the lowest mintage of the type (7,880 pieces), and is the only Classic Head quarter eagle with fewer than 10,000 coins struck. Mint State examples are extremely rare, as evidenced by only 15 Uncirculated coins seen by NGC and PCGS. The bright yellow-gold surfaces of this Unc Details specimen have not suffered that much from a light cleaning. They are free of significant contact marks, and exhibit sharply struck design elements. The usual doubling is seen on the mintmark.

Coin Engraver: William Kneass

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
