<B>1838-C $2 1/2 --Genuine--NCS.</B></I> MS60 Details, Cleaned. Variety 1-A. This is the only die pairing used for the coinage of 1838-C quarter eagles. The reverse die carried over for use in 1839, the only other issue of the Classic Head design from Charlotte. Struck nearly 170 years ago, this and the half eagle were the first gold coinage issues of the Charlotte Mint.
