<B>1838 25C No Drapery MS64 NGC.</B></I> Briggs 1-A, Open Claws Reverse, the only readily collectible variety of the 1838 Seated quarter. Unlike the rare Briggs 2-B variety, the innermost talon of the left (right facing) claw does not touch the arrow feather on the 1-A. Bright luster radiates from silver surfaces occupied by cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown toning around the borders. A sharp strike brings out excellent detail in the design features, save for minor softness in the stars of the upper obverse.
