1838<25C> MS62 PCGS. B-1, R.1. Only a single die marriage is known for 1838 Bust Quarters, which is not surprising since the Seated Liberty design (initially produced on Gobrecht Dollars) was modified for the denomination later that same year. Semi-bright silvery-gray surfaces exhibit deep charcoal-gray and steel-blue patina along portions of the obverse borders. With the exception of a couple of the star centers, the design elements are well brought up. A few wispy handling marks are noted on Liberty's cheek and neck and in the left (facing) obverse field, none of which significantly distract. Overall, a very nice looking Bust quarter. Population: 13 in 62, 29 finer (8/05).
