1838 $10 VF25 PCGS. The "Head of 1838" was struck for only two years, with the 1838 several times rarer than the 1839 Head of 1838. A portion of the 1838 mintage was struck from melted down British gold sovereigns provided by James Smithson's will. An unexpectedly sharply detailed peach-gold piece. Scratches are noted near star 1 and the I in AMERICA. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 5 in 25, 44 finer (11/07).
From The Casa Becca del Norté Collection.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
