1838 $10 AU50 PCGS. The 1838 eagles were the first of the denomination struck since 1804. Because the design was altered in 1839, only the 1838 and 1839/8 eagles are available to represent the subtype, most easily distinguished from the redesign by the pointed bust truncation at the rear of Liberty's bust, which hovers directly over star 13. Only 7,200 pieces of this issue were coined, few of which survive today in Mint State. This piece offers brownish-gold surfaces with some faint prooflikeness still visible in the protected areas around the devices. The coin is fairly well struck, but numerous abrasions dot the obverse in particular. Population: 6 in 50, 16 finer (3/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
