1837 N-9 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. Lustrous bluish steel brown and light chocolate with faded mint red covering 20% of the obverse, at least 50% of the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the planchet and the eye appeal is outstanding. There is a faint hairline scratch on the cheek, two tiny specks of dark toning at star 2, and another just left of the date. M-LDS with a small but strong triangular rim cud break at star 11 and faint beginnings of a nearly horizontal die crack from the curl behind the neck into the field toward the dentils just above star 12. Called MS65+ and CC#2 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 choice and tied for CC#1, his photo #28780. Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 2; none finer. Estimated Value $1,500-UP. Ex Hans M. F.
