1837 N-2 R2 Plain Hair Cord, Medium Letters, PCGS graded MS64 BrownChoice frosty light steel brown and light chocolate with faded mint color in protected areas on both sides. The only marks are a small puff of darker steel toning at the dentils left of star 6 and another microscopic one on the jawline near the earlobe, plus a couple very light diagonal nicks at ONE. MDS, die state c, with a slightly raised retained cud break near the dentils between the parallel die cracks up from star 4. The upper half of this retained cud is separated from the lower half by a horizontal die break. A very nice example of a neat intermediate die state. Called MS61 and CC#2 in the Noyes census with only two examples known in mint state, his photo #21203. Bland says MS60 and tied for CC#3. Our grade is MS60+. Comes with a nice provenance.Certificate Number: 37150.64/13072485Pedigree: Ex Dr. William H. Sheldon-Dorothy I. Paschal-Ray Chatham 3/1980-Del Bland-C.
