1837 N-12 R3 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. "Accessory E" variety. Mint red mellowing to light chocolate brown on the highpoints, at least half the mint color remaining on both sides. Nearly perfect, a tiny diagonal nick right of the top of the 7 in the date and a minor planchet lamination in the dentils over the C in AMERICA passing down the right side of that letter to the left foot of the adjacent A where it fades out. MDS with fine radial die flowlines covering the fields on both sides. The "Accessory E" punched into the leaves under the E in AMERICA is sharp and the repunching on the 8 in the date is clear. Called MS70- and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS65 and tied for CC#1, his photo #21342. Our grade is MS64+, close to MS65. PCGS Population 2; none finer. Estimated Value $2,000-UP.
